Village Theatre: In Negotiations
Wardrobe language presented to decline taking the work of other departments or locals if certain wardrobe minimum staffing concerns aren’t met. This, compounded with an aggressive wage proposal by all three locals, will make for an interesting meeting next week.
ACT:
New Contract Signed and filed
ASM:
New Contract Signed and filed
Climate Pledge:
After 8 months of back and forth and our local filling multiple calls, I finally met with management and amended a Letter of Agreement. We now have a standing letter of agreement that includes language regarding proper laundry facilities, wardrobe rooms, retroactive benefit payments, and best efforts to request calls two weeks in advance.
Teatro Zinzanni :
With the discovery this company intended to begin work soon, we quickly contacted the venue, signed a retroactive extension, and convinced TZ to pay all their outstanding debts past owed to the National Benefits Fund to move forward. .
The bargaining unit has met twice in the past few weeks, and we are meeting at the table for the first time with Teatro to begin negotiations this Wednesday at 11am .
887 hopes to accomplish the following:
• strike management rights language that is blatantly in violation of the National Labor Relations Act, adding anti-bullying, harassment, and discrimination clauses,
• consolidating unnecessary and unfair division of rates into 3 unchangeable categories
• aggressive wage, Health, and Welfare proposal.
Thank you Sam Topola, Karen Crosby, Theresa O’Leary, and Marie Kramer for your participation and enthusiasm on this bargaining unit. First negotiation Date: August 10th 11am
Cornish:
We have finally presented our wage proposal along with seniority pay bumps, and updated sick and safe leave. Although we do not currently represent members at Cornish. We have created language for potential shop members and wardrobe should they want to join. However, this negotiation has been going on long before I even started shadowing Delia over a year ago and all 3 locals are standing together to wrap this one up.
Mt. Baker:
Schedule conflicts, 15 union staff in crisis, this unit has been like herding cats. However, we have signed an extension and will be making a huge effort to push this negotiation to begin next week alongside Local 15.
Seattle Opera:
All three locals will sign an MOU stating that Seattle Opera has permission to stream performances for subscribers still uncomfortable with attending live performances. There will be no revenue or single tickets sold for streaming performances.
All three Locals have also agreed to allow a screening of Tosca, free to the public, at Seattle Center.
PNB:
Local 887 has created a Letter of Agreement regarding the new addition of Wardrobe Assistant Position at the non-represented Phelps Center. Through this LOA, both parties agreed that the Job added a non-union position at the Phelps Center, would become union once they enter McCaw Hall.
5th Avenue Theatre:
With the Local 15 contract up and the joint 488/887 contract up this December, the 5th proposed a one-year extension for both contracts along with a wage freeze. All three locals have declined this offer and countered with a one-year extension plus a CPIU wage increase (around 10%)
The 5th has rejected this counter and all three locals agree that we will continue to pursue wage increases or will not agree to a contract extension.
Thankyou: Beth Baker, Chris Moad, Rachel Wilkey, Randy Werdal , and their new wardrobe head Sara Jarrell Wade for your participation.

National Benefits News
• An Important Message from the IATSE National Health & Welfare Fund Those members still on extended coverage relief from the Health & Welfare Fund. If you continue on the No Cost COBRA relief offered by the Plan through September 30th and continue to not qualify under either Plan A or Plan C, the Board of Trustees have agreed to extend relief until the end of 2022. This will be the conclusion of any relief offered by the Fund unless circumstances warrant consideration by the Board.
• IATSE National Benefits announced a plan dedicated to IATSE members seeking abortions in legal, neighboring states as a response to the appalling reversal of Roe vs Wade. IATSE has taken a strong stance against this ruling, going so far as President Lobe stating at the GEB,” Should they make assisting those in need illegal, let them. They simply cannot arrest us all. Reproductive rights are worker’s rights.
